

Micro-credential Title: Leadership Skills for Manufacturing
Description
The Leadership Skills micro-credential will verify the student’s knowledge and understanding of leadership. This includes the impact that leadership has on the performance of the business, its personnel, and the workplace culture. This micro-credential will also verify the student’s knowledge and skill in the areas of situational leadership, follower change readiness, and the role that change management plays in effectively leading others.
Assessment: The assessment for and evidence of the student’s understanding of the content of this Leadership Skills micro-credential will be verified by the student successfully completing a series of quizzes for three of the four assigned learning modules. Module 4 includes a self-assessment that the student must complete.
Delivery Method/Format: This Leadership Skills micro-credential will be delivered to the student by Moodle on an individual basis. There will be no face-to-face or class engagements. While this micro-credential has been designed to be self-paced so that the student can complete all assignments as their schedule allows, to gain the best learning experience the student is encouraged to start and complete the required assignments without any significant time gap between learning sessions.
Estimated Time to Earn: The time required by the student to engage in and successfully complete this micro-credential is estimated to be between 8-10 hours.
Instructional Plan: This Leadership Skills micro-credential consists of four modules. Within each of these four modules the student will be required to review and absorb the content of guided module specific PowerPoint presentations as well as related videos, papers, and case studies.
Prerequisites: This Leadership Skills micro-credential was designed to support of wide range of students with no specific educational discipline, course history, or work experience. As such, there are no prerequisites for this micro-credential. All are welcome.
Meet Your Instructor: Bill Williams
William is an operations and services executive. He has an extensive 30-year background focused on operations, engineering, manufacturing, and service management. His expertise includes excelling in challenging, high-performance environments and delivering profitability by using a metrics based decision-making methodology. His experience includes leading and integrating product development, manufacturing, supply chain management, and services while building teams that support the tactical execution of strategic objectives.
During his career he has been responsible for managing domestic and international hardware engineering and new product development, manufacturing, procurement, quality, warehousing and distribution, and services including installations, professional services, depot repair, field service, and call center. He currently advises and consults in all areas of business.
An active supporter of the University, William pursues hiring Clarkson graduates because of their knowledge, work ethic, and business impact. He has engaged Clarkson students in work-based learning experiences and sourced project-based work to Clarkson graduates. He is the current Chair of the Reh School of Business Dean's Business Leadership Council, a founder and former chair of the Engineering and Management external advisory council, and an adjunct instructor in Clarkson’s MSEM graduate program.
William resides in New Hartford, New York with his wife Marie. They have two children, Tyler and Trevor. Trevor is a 2019 Engineering and Management Clarkson graduate. Tyler is a 2020 Master of Science in Data Analytics Clarkson graduate.
Earning Criteria
- The earner will complete all assigned reading and video material.
- The earner will achieve a score of 90% or better on each of the multiple choice or drag and drop quizzes within three of the four modules. Quiz content is based on the material covered in the assigned PowerPoint presentations, videos, case studies, and related reading material.
- The earner will complete the leadership self-assessment in Module 4.
